Eridu was the first city to ever be constructed on Earth. Eridu was the most southern city in ancient Mesopotamia and was an important centre for the cult of Enki, the water deity. It's name is translated closely to "Mighty place" or "Guidance place". It is also noted that the original location of this city was where deity Marduk had created the world, in ancient Sumerian tradition.
